Give to Gain: Empowering Women Through Legal Knowledge

The Canada Ghana Chamber of Commerce (CANCHAM), in collaboration with Ntrakwah & Co., marked International Women’s Day with a Legal Clinic themed “Give to Gain: Strengthening Women’s Businesses through Legal Guidance.” The event convened women entrepreneurs, professionals, and industry leaders to gain practical legal insights to support business growth and leadership.
The occasion was graced by the Canadian High Commissioner to Ghana, Her Excellency Myriam Montrat, whose presence highlighted the importance of partnerships in advancing women’s empowerment. In her keynote address, she emphasized the need for sustained collaboration and investment to support the advancement of women both locally and globally.
In her opening remarks, Senior Partner of Ntrakwah & Co., Abena Ntrakwah-Mensah, underscored the critical role of legal literacy in business success. She highlighted the importance of trademarks and intellectual property protection, noting that safeguarding ideas and innovations enables women to lead and compete with confidence. The President of the Chamber, Linda K. Vasnani, reaffirmed CANCHAM’s commitment to inclusive growth, emphasizing that initiatives such as the Legal Clinic help bridge knowledge gaps and create opportunities for women to excel in business and leadership.
The Legal Clinic featured a series of expert-led sessions by lawyers from Ntrakwah & Co., covering key areas such as Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) frameworks, Contracts, and effective dispute resolution mechanisms. These sessions equipped participants with practical tools to navigate today’s evolving business landscape.
The Chamber also extends its appreciation to Appleman GH for supporting the event with fresh fruits for participants.
