The Executive Secretary of the Chamber, alongside her team, recently paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority, Dr. Mary Awusi. The engagement forms part of the Chamber’s ongoing commitment to strengthening strategic partnerships and fostering deeper collaboration with key stakeholders.

The visit also provided an opportunity to formally extend an invitation to Dr. Awusi for the Chamber’s flagship annual event, CEO’s Connect, scheduled for August. Conversations during the meeting centered on actionable strategies to attract more Canadian companies to Ghana, while also supporting Ghanaian businesses in expanding into the Canadian market—particularly within the manufacturing and agribusiness sectors.

Beyond trade promotion, both institutions explored avenues for collaboration in capacity building. The Ghana Free Zones Authority highlighted opportunities for targeted training programs for its workforce, as well as specialized sessions for Free Zones enterprises looking to export their products and services to Canada. Emphasis was placed on aligning with international best practices to enhance global competitiveness and drive sustainable growth.

Overall, the meeting was highly productive and forward-looking. The Chamber is optimistic about the potential outcomes of this engagement and looks forward to translating these discussions into impactful initiatives that will create value for businesses in both Ghana and Canada.
